The Nuggets, led by two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić. Beat a 10-point lead in the second quarter to finish the series 4-1. The Heat threatened to make a comeback in the final minutes. Before Miami star Jimmy Butler gave Denver the lead before the turnover.
“We’re done, we can go home now,” Jokic said in an interview on the sidelines after finishing the game with 28 points and 16 rebounds. He was also named the MVP of the Finals with an average of 30 points per game.
2 points, 14.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists for the full series. The Serbian All-Star, a second-round pick in the 2014 auditions, was also the lowest pick to win the Finals MVP. Denver’s name makes him one of the greatest centers in NBA history.
Teammate Jamal Murray is also doing very well: After missing the entire 2021-22 season with a torn ACL, he averaged 21.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 10.0 assists in the Finals.
“I thought this would happen long before we got here,” Murray said. “I had faith that I would make it to the playoffs, have the knowledge, see the team and the chemistry improve, there is something important in my career, that’s when I see it. That’s what I believe in time.
“It’s just a meeting from here, when there’s a good environment and everyone is healthy, God forbid, a meeting that shows we can do it. I think when we play our best basketball, we are a hard team to stop.

“It was ugly, we couldn’t shoot but we finally got it,” said Jokic. “I’m happy we won the game”
Nuggets coach Michael Malone immediately set his sights on winning more championships with his young players. “I’ve got news for everyone out there,” said Malone, standing in front of the football stadium. “We’re not happy with that.”
Denver looked like a rival for most of the season and made it into the playoffs as #1. 1 seed in the West. This is in stark contrast to the Heat, which competed as #1 in the NBA Finals. 8 seeds.
