Actor and filmmaker Manobala died in Chennai on Wednesday. 69 years old. Senior actor Rajinikanth and producer G Dhananjayan paid him their respects.

Actor and filmmaker, Manobala, who started his film career as a director and directed more than a dozen films, died Wednesday in a private hospital in Chennai. According to his publisher, he was hospitalize 10 days ago and is undergoing treatment for a heart condition. He was 69 years old and survived by his wife and son.

Senior actor Rajinikanth paid tribute in Tamil on Twitter for commemorating his “friend” Manobala. Rajinikanth’s tweet could translate as: “I am deeply sadden by the death of my close friend Manobala, a famous director and actor.

producer G Dhananjayan also reveale that he was shock to learn of Manobala’s death. The heart goes to the family. May his soul rest in peace (sic). Actor Gautham Karthik also shared: “So sad to hear that director/actor Mr. Manobala is no longer with us. Working with you was a real pleasure! You will remember! Be patient with your family, friends and loved ones…

In 1979, Manobala began his film career in Bharathiraja as an assistant director to Puthiya Vaarpugal. Pati Sirf Mera Hai starring Jeetendra, Some of his Films are Pillai Nila, Sirai Parvai and Oorkavalan etc. His last directorial work was the 2002 Tamil film Naina.

He has been working as an actor for the last two years. Famous for his comedy roles, he has acted in more than 200 films. His last onscreen appearance was in Kajal Aggarwal’s Tamil horror comedy Ghosty.

Manobala was a well-known director in the ’80s and ’90s, although he is best known for his comedic roles. He has trained Rajinikanth, Radhika, Suhasini, Prabhu, Sathyaraj and Sivaji Ganesan. Oorkavalan, En Purushanthaan Enakku Mattumthaan and Dhoorathu Pachai are some of his movies.

Manobala also shared screen space with prominent actors of Tamil movies like Dhanush, Suriya, Vijay, Karthi and Jaya Ravi. Yaaradi Nee Mohini is known for her roles in Siruthai and Nanban. Although Manobala had a small role in the film, it made a huge impact and was greatly appreciate.

Superstar Rajinikanth, who starred in Oorkavalan directed by Manobala, expressed his sadness over the death of his friend on Twitter. “My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace. Rest in peace.” The deaths of three people shocked Tamil movie lovers and stars.

The actor and producer, who suffered from liver disease, breathed his last in his home in Chennai, where he was treated. The actor is 69 years old.

Manobala was first admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai and later sent to his home in Saligramam. The patient has been unresponsive to medical treatment for the past fifteen days and this morning this afternoon.
